New Jerseys Not So Bad: Humphrey’s Coffee

As part of my grand plan to convince the world (and myself) that living in New Jersey isn’t so bad, I am exploring restaurants, coffee shops, and other places that make the Garden State great.
Serving delicious drinks and sweet treats, Humphrey’s Coffee is a Bergen County coffee shop that makes New Jersey not so bad.

According to the shop’s website, Humphrey’s Coffee is named after the owner’s mischievous childhood Beagle, and the shop’s logo is an outline of that dog. In addition to coffees, lattes, and teas, the shop sells delicious cookies, brownies, and other treats. Some are baked in-store, and others are from Balthazar Bakery in Englewood, New Jersey.
When I visited the store, I ordered a medium Nutella latte. It was delicious while not being too sweet or too chocolatey (if that’s even possible). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that each latte size has a different number of espresso shots. Small lattes contain two shots, mediums have three, and a large latte has four shots of espresso.
At most coffee shops I’ve been to, small lattes contain one shot, and medium and large lattes have two shots. The only difference between a medium and a large one is more ice and more milk. I would have to order a large latte and add a shot of espresso to receive a latte with three shots and the perfect amount of milk. But the larger size and the additional shot of espresso are pricey. I didn’t have to worry about that here.
In addition to my chocolatey, delicious drink, I ordered an Oreo blondie, which was about the size of a piece of cake. The large serving is perfect for sharing, and the blondie was not the only big dessert on display. Consider ordering a few items and sharing with friends at one of the many tables in the shop. There is also outdoor seating available in front of the shop or at the park next door.
Humphrey’s Coffee is located at 160 Terrace St., Suite 1 in Haworth, New Jersey. The store is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The store is closed on Tuesday.
